Template Settings, Rows and Content: How Do They Work?

One of the biggest strengths of the Content Designer for templates is that it provides creative professionals with tremendous design flexibility.

This is achieved by separating the concepts of Settings (which apply to the entire design), Rows (which can be added, removed, copied, saved, and moved), and Content (individual content blocks: images, text, buttons, etc., which also can be added, removed, copied, and moved).

When creating an Email or Landing PageTemplate, you will use the 3 parts of the Email Content Designer: Settings, Rows and Content for more design flexibility.

1. Settings

These are the general settings for the entire message and page.

They are inherited by the Rows and Content blocks. For example, the font family set in the message Settings tab is then used everywhere in your message (unless you modify within the content block).

This is very helpful to build a coherent message very quickly.

2. Rows

Here you can find different types of rows to insert into your design.

Rows are structural units that define the horizontal composition of a section of the design by using columns. You can use from one to four columns.

Using more than one column allows you to put different content elements side by side.

You can add to your message all the structural elements you need, regardless of the template you select when you started.

Every row has its own settings, which you gives you flexibility. For example, you can select a background for the entire row, or set a specific column width within.

3. Content

This section includes a series of tiles that represent the different kinds of content you can use in your design.

To use them, simply drag one of the tiles into a column and it will auto-adjust to the column width.

Every content block has its own settings, such as granular control on padding. The right-side panel automatically switches to a property panel for the selected content element.
